Soy Wax is Non-Toxic

Full post: One of the best things about our candles is that we make them with entirely environmentally friendly components, from our packaging, containers, and candle composition. Our candles are hand-made from 100% soy wax, which not only causes no measurable harm to the environment but causes no harm to any living things near them.

There have been some videos making their way around the internet saying how scented candles are dangerous—interestingly these videos never mention that the type of wax that can be dangerous is not soy wax, but a variety called paraffin wax. Soy wax, on the other hand, creates no more toxicity that what already exists in the air in a normal urban or suburban environment. According to a recent article in the New York Times, "while scented candles do produce various vapors and particles that can be unsafe to inhale at high doses, research suggests that with typical use, the dose you get is far below what is considered harmful to your health." This is important to remember because in the world we live in, loud headlines and social media stories have a disproportionate effect on the way we can think. Unfortunately, many of these kinds of media value clicks far more than accuracy. Our suggestion is to research a little bit yourself. There are plenty of sources in print and online in reliable, edited publications. If you do that, we think you'll find exactly what we found: that soy candle burning is safe and leaves the smallest possible footprint in our immediate and wider environments than a candle possibly can.
